Water Quality Testing Buoys

The LSLA Water Quality Team has obtained permission from the State to install three buoys used to mark the three locations where water testing is to be performed (see map to the right). These will allow the team to moor in the same location during every outing to be sure all tests are at the same place. These locations are approved and mandated by the State. This should save the team a lot of time as setting anchors on a windy day while maintaining the correct location is a real chore. There have been some days where the wind just wasn’t allowing for a proper anchoring, and testing had to be abandoned. These buoys should eliminate that problem.

The installation of the buoys will be maintained by the Association, not the state. Certified divers familiar with best practices will be installing them in the spring, periodically inspecting them throughout the summer, and removing them for winter. All work will be done in accordance with State guidelines.

So please be aware of their locations while out enjoying the lake. The team procured the largest buoys available to make sure they will be easily seen. These new buoys will help our volunteers to regularly get the samples needed to give everyone good information on our lake’s health.

Thank you!
