Hopkins Dam Committee
Purpose
The purpose of the committee is to safely operate and maintain the Hopkins Dam in accordance with the requirements of the Dam Safety Program of the Maine Emergency Management Agency, and to follow the 1984 Mandate of the Maine Department of Environmental Protection. The Dam Keeper balances the water level of Little Sebago Lake by adjusting the flow while considering the limitations of the downstream ponds and streams.
Partnerships
The committee works closely with State Inspectors on dam maintenance and emergency procedures. They also partner with Mother Nature and her rain storms to adjust the flow to help keep the lake’s water level where it should be, while working with others downstream to make sure they can handle the flow from our lake.
