GOD HAS BLESSED AMERICA!  News Story
Saturday, September 15, 2001

I awoke this morning, 5 days after the original news of Tuesday's horrific day in history to see the mists gently lifting from the lake. In the distance the faint cry of loons could be heard and the firey sunrise was just breaking over the horizon over the east shore of the middle lake. Another beautiful day is unfolding. The never changing but ever changing beauty of the lake has a constantness that makes it ageless. In times like this it is such a blessing to be able to be part of this environment. As the reality of Tuesday started to unfold, my husband and I were drawn to the waterfront. The gentle lapping waves soothed our anquished spirits. We spoke of how the people in the midst of this calamity would love to have a moment of this peace to refresh their exhausted spirit and so wished we could share our great fortune with them. Again and again throughout these days this lake has brought comfort, hope and healing. God truly has already blessed us in so many ways in this country. The past days have shown the wonderful spirit of our people, their unselfishness in helping others often facing death or dying in the process. But the most important thing that is seen is love that our people have for our country and the Creator who created it and us. Evil will always be around us but we have a power greater than evil when we remember who is really in charge and nothing can ever separate us from God. Take heart and remember those who might already be personally affected who are our neighbors on the lake. We all need to be gentle with each other and support one another. There will be those who come to spend time on the lake next summer to renew their fragile spirit and share what we are fortunate enough to enjoy daily who may have lost a loved one. Let us keep in mind the wonderful spirit of friendship that is such an important part of this lake. Share that more freely with those you encounter and ask who they are and get to know them. It will help you grow and understand and will make them feel at home. Most of all please don't let fear fill your hearts or the enemy will have won. Rest your fears in God and go forth with His strength and you will soar. God Bless!
