Boat Landing cleanup  News Story
Saturday, June 30, 2001

The LSLA were present during several days of the Memorial Day weekend at the public boat launch in Windham, to pass out literature about invasive aquatic plants and to educate those using the boat launch that weekend. Chuck Stone, carrying a full color photo album of the different invasive plants explained our purpose and concerns to all that would listen. He found folks very responsive and glad that our lake association was taking an active interest. Also present during the days that rain did not occur, were Pam Wilkinson, Judy Andrews, Colin Walsh, Christine Godfrey and Liz Metayer. Some of these folks pulled bags of debris from around the site, left by past boaters. Many empty bait containers and other refuse were carted away by members. Contact was made with the Inland Fish and Water about maintenance issues such as broken guardrails and plexiglass on the displays. Efforts will be made to man the launch to pass out more information on other long weekends. If you use the landing site, please remember to carry out what you carry in.
